Xiaomi Mi4i

This is my experience with the “plastic flagship” Mi4i made by Xiaomi, cheap middle-class smartphone with awesome camera.

The Xiaomi Mi4i is an interesting device.

Plastic!!! you will wonder?

They say: Plastic is cheap. Xiaomi proves even plastic can be noble and beautiful.

Packaging and content

Xiaomi delivers Mi4i, like all other Xiaomi phones, in a brown cardboard box whith only the logo of the manufacturer on the back the specifications for the Mi4i are printed. Settled has Xiaomi only a UK 5V / 2A charging adapter ( Gearbest sets an adapter for European sockets kindly to it), a USB cable and a Quick Start Guide English.
headphones or a screen protector in vain.

Design and processing

The design of the  Xiaomi Mi4i  will certainly not fit all “tastes”, as it is very simple, as well as some models of the Nokia Lumia series.
From my perspective, not negative, because I find the design of the device quite attractive and successful.
When processing this Xiaomi  can be very noble and good.
For example, Xiaomi has not followed the trend of the protruding main camera, but combines these with a metal frame, as well as the corresponding dual-LED flash, completely into the housing.
In the right side you will find the volume control and the power button; the Dual-SIM tray on the left side.
What good processing means because there is no rattling buttons, just perfect pressure points.
Unfortunately, the back of the Mi4i is non-slip coating, but is smooth, but nevertheless it is very well and safe in your hand. All in all, one can say that the Mi4i is very well made.

The  first highlight of the Mi4i – the display.
The Mi4i has a  5″ IPS FHD display  with  1920 × 1080 pixels (441PPI). Tthe display show the colors vigorously, but not excessively so  it is easy to read from all sides.
Due to the so-called  Sunlight technology that is built into the display of Mi4i, the brightness adjusts quickly to the lighting conditions.
The new technology used by Xiaomi adjusts the contrast of each pixel in real time, thus improving readability in sunlight.

Xiaomi Mi4i

Since the  Mi4i  the relatively new  Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit Octa-Core (1.7GHz)  in conjunction with  2GB of RAM  and  Adreno 405 GPU, I was expecting a decent performance – and I was not disappointed!
The  Mi4i  proves its  multitasking ability: Whatsapp, Facebook, Messenger and various mail programs – everything you need in everyday life.
Also current 3D games run well,  here the Mi4i comes to its limits.
On the back of Xiaomi there is also a  speaker  built in, which  delivers greatly pleasant sound.
For enough stamina it has a  3120mAh battery. In addition, Mi4i runs on Xiaomi’s own MIUI OS. It has the MIUI6. A beta of  MIUI 7  is already  available for download  and we have tested it briefly for you. What stands out first is the improved speed; MIUI 7 fills almost twice as fast as the previous version.

Networks and Telephony

The  Xiaomi Mi4i  is  a 4G smartphone, but unfortunately the important European channel 20 (800MHz)  ISN´T  supported.
But still: the Mi4i also offers a  dual-SIM support with two micro-SIM. My two different vendors cards were easily integrated and built up a data connection.
Phone calls can be made without problems – I heard and was heard clear and clearly understood.

Also known as  Navi  the Mi4i is  fast and reliable. Google Maps shows within a few seconds at the location – Enter target, start navigation and route guidance can begin.

Connectivity and sensors

The Mi4i supports   WiFi 802.11 b / g / n / ac, has  Bluetooth 4.1  and has of course a microUSB 2.0 port.
An  accelerometer, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, brightness sensor are also installed here.

Now the absolute highlight of Mi4i.
Xiaomi has the Mi4i  13 MP Sony / Samsung sensor  with  f / 2.0 aperture installed. Briefly, the camera shoots simply superb photos, at close range as well as in landscape photography.
Whether much or little light the recordings with the Mi4i are perfect. The autofocus is surprisingly fast.
The  front camera  triggers  5 MP  and also offers a good quality for any kind of Selfies.

I have to admit: when I turned off the test photos I had a lot of fun.
It makes you feel good with the Mi4i to take pictures and look at them on the sharp 5″ screen later.
Even the  digital zoom  still provides acceptable results.

My recommendation is to get the Xiaomi Mi4i.
For  around 210  €, it offers an  excellent camera, top workmanship and design and LTE  (at least in larger cities).
